Special Operations

The Special Operations Division handles auxiliary and support functions for the department. This includes specialized response to field situations, special events, and emergency incidents. The division maintains all departmental equipment such as vehicles, weapons, and rescue equipment. It also operates the tactical teams, traffic units, and other units, including:

Selective Enforcement
Hazardous Devices
K-9
Mounted Units.

Within the division is a Support Services Unit that consists of Secondary Employment, Staff Planning and Logistics, Code Enforcement, and Animal Control. Special Operations also drafts plans for departmental operation during significant events such as major sporting events or other public gatherings, as well as weather-related events such as hurricanes.
