Thomas Crabtree, the first RPD officer to fall in the line of duty, wore this badge in the 1920s.

This style of badge was used between 1920 and 1950; during the early part of this period, other styles of badges were also used.

This style of badge overlaps with the previous one; it was in use between 1925 and 1935.

All three of these rank badges are hat badges. The sergeant and lieutenant badges were used around 1940-1953, while the date of the captain's badge is currently unknown.
